Learning can take place anywhere

Life has never been the same as a result of the sudden pandemic which hit the world unprepared. The pandemic outbreak has led to the closure of churches, mosques and some  business' activities around the globe. Like every other sector, schools aren't exempted from the lockdown and everyone including teachers have been asked to work from home. As a result of this, our usual lifestyle has been adjusted, businesses and human activities have been taken place online.

For many a parent, having their children at home without going to school is a dreadful idea; sequel to this time, educational activities mostly occur in the classroom and this has made the impression that teaching and learning is best done in the school, but the situation at hand has proven otherwise.

Learning can actually take place anywhere in the world. According to Prof. Tripathy, who has been a teachers' trainer all his life, learning could happen anywhere and from anything. Only that one has to open himself towards these avenues of learning. Hence, if teachers concentrate only on classroom learning they would be bringing out score sheet with high scores in examinations for the children rather than making them better human beings which is the very purpose of education.

Teaching and learning has taken different shapes. Cambridge Assessment International Education asserts that online learning can provide greater flexibility and more opportunities for personalised learning than a face-to-face classroom. Teachers can study at a time and in a location where they feel most comfortable.

Online learning also allows teachers to take their time to reflect on what they have learnt and its relevance to their existing knowledge and circumstances, and receive answers to any questions they may have.

Another benefit of online learning is the opportunity it brings for personal growth through the development of global connections. A successful online learning environment provides a safe space that allows teachers to share ideas and experiences with people from around the world.

Comfort is a strong advantage of online learning; with no bound to physical class session, learning activity can successfully take place. All lectures and needed materials are provided via online platforms, so students can easily access them from the comfort of their homes. Students can listen to lectures and complete assignments sent to them electronically, with no need to fight traffic, leave work early for class, or miss important family time.

Online courses give students the opportunity to plan study time around the rest of their day, instead of the other way around. Students can learn at their convenience.

However, children activities need to be guided and monitored online against adults scenes, while experience has shown that online students are forced to become more self-disciplined, those that remain unengaged could be a challenge as their activities cannot be monitored in class.

The pandemic outbreak has further proven, especially in the third world countries, the great advantages of online learning which every learner must key into for learning and teaching to continue.
