Adegoke murder: Appeal Court upholds death sentence of Adedoyin

The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has affirmed the death sentence slammed on Ramon Adedoyin, over the death of Timothy Adegoke, a Master’s student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Chief Adedoyin and two staff members of Hilton hotel were found guilty of murder by an Osun State High Court and subsequently sentenced to death. 

Delivering its judgment on Thursday, the appellate court upheld the ruling of the Osun State High Court, confirming that the original judgment still stands.

The judgment reads in parts: “The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part.

“The Court of Appeal held that Adedoyin was properly convicted and sentenced to death.

“Order of forfeiture of Hilton Hotel quashed and set aside.

“Order of education scholarship to children of Timothy Adegoke by Adedoyin and others quashed and set aside.”

 Adegoke was found dead in November 2021 at Adedoyin’s Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife, where he (the deceased) had lodged.
