Bomb explosion rocks Oyo Correctional Centre
Days after it was attacked by unknown gunmen, Abolongo correctional center in Oyo town suffered another explosion on Tuesday afternoon.
The explosion which caused panic among residents of the area occurred outside the prison facility recorded no casualty.
The bomb is believed to be an unexploded one planted by the criminals who attacked the centre last weekend.
The improvised explosive device, IED, that was believed to have been used by the attackers of abolongo prison have been detonated this afternoon by the officers of the anti-bomb unit of the Nigeria police.
Confirming the explosion, Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian correctional service, Oyo State Command, Olanrewaju Anjorin explained that the anti-bomb unit of the Nigerian police was invited to carry out the operation so as not to endanger lives and property.
He further advised people not to panic as it was a safe action.
It would be recalled that medium correctional centre Abolongo, oyo town was attacked by some unknown gunman last Friday leaving four people dead and many others injured.
