COVID-19: Comply with govt.’s directive on face masks, Police urge Ondo residents

The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police, has urged residents of the state to comply with the government directive on the wearing of face masks in order to curtail the spread of coronavirus.

The command’s Spokesman, ASP Tee Leo-Ikoro, in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday, said that many residents still feigned ignorance about the pandemic, saying this had made them to violate the order.

According to him, all residents, including the police, journalists, politicians and market women, must embrace the use of face masks to contain the deadly disease.

“Many people still believe that COVID-19 is a hoax but the truth of the matter is that it is real, and this is why everyone must wear face masks for protection against the virus.
“The state government has given the order; we will enforce it. Nobody will be left out; nobody is bigger than COVID-19.

‘We are appealing to our people to see the need to obey the use of face masks because it is for their own good,” he said.

Leo-Ikoro urged the media to continue to create awareness and enlighten the public on the advantages of using face masks to curtail the spread of the virus.
