Four killed in Ondo cult clash
Four persons have been killed in a clash between suspected cult groups in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to sources in the locality, one of the victims, 52-year-old Fisayo Oladipupo, a former youth leader of the APC in Owo LGA was shot dead in the early hours of Monday (today) by assailants suspected to be cultists.
Oladipupo’s remains have since been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre in Owo.
Reports had it that two cult groups engaged themselves in a supremacy battle leaving five casualties.
Four of the victims were shot within the Eyinogbe, Ekusi, and Uselu axis of the community.
The Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, Oladipupo, was said to have been shot at close range by his assailants.
The Spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident. She noted that four persons have been killed in the clash.
She stated that the police is yet to establish whether an APC chieftain is one of the victims, adding that with the intervention of police team dispatched, normalcy has returned to the area.
