Helicopter crashes in Lagos

A helicopter with four persons onboard, including the pilot, crash-landed in front of a bank on Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos Tuesday.

The cause of the crash which occurred at about 1600hrs is still unknown.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said all four persons onboard had been rescued and moved to hospital for further care.

LASEMA said it had activated its disaster response plan.

“The area has been cordoned off and is being blanketed to prevent a secondary incident. 

All Emergency Responders are on scene,” LASEMA said in the statement signed by its Director General, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu.

Also, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on their official facebook page disclosed that the “A helicopter Reg Number 5NCCQ belonging to Airfirst Hospitality and Tour Ltd crashed near Lagos Airport.”

“Following the incident, NEMA, LASEMA, Fire Service, security Agencies and other stakeholders carried out a search and rescue operation. Thankfully, two crew members and two passengers were rescued alive from the wreckage.”
