JAMB prohibits parents from accessing UTME centres

Joint Admissions and Enrollment Board (JAMB) Registrar Professor Is’haq Oloyede has ordered all CBT centers across the country to no longer allow parents / guardians to re-enter the room registration.

A statement signed by JAMB spokesperson at Ilorin‘s office, Hassan Lawal, quoted Oloyede as saying the decision was made after inspecting some of the registration centers in Kwara, which were overcrowded.

“The registrar said it has been discovered that parents / guardians are still a distraction for applicants and centers and at the same time clutter up rooms by not following COVID-19 protocols,” Oloyede said.

Oloyede also advised parents / guardians to stop pushing the education of their wards faster than necessary.

“For example, a 14 or 15 year old is not mature enough to endure the registration process and university pressure and is vulnerable to exploitation by scammers,” he said.

Oloyede also advised state ministries of education and relevant stakeholders who were charged with the responsibility for enrolling students in secondary schools to always verify the actual age of students prior to their admission to secondary schools.
