Man, 20, dock over alleged house breaking, stealing

A 20-year-old man, Temitope Ogunjimade, was on Thursday brought before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged house breaking and stealing.

The defendant of no fixed address is standing trial on a two-count charge of house breaking and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 22 at about 10:00a.m at Olorunsogo Layout, Ilogbo Road in Osi-Ekiti.

Akinwale told the court that the defendant broke into the house of the complainant, Mr Adegbuyi Farotimi.

He also said that the defendant stole two mobile phones, Infinix Hot 5 and Tecno Y2 valued at N53,000, and cash of N28,000, belonging to the complainant.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His counsel, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, urged the court to grant him bail, promising that his client would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted bail of N30,000 to the defendant with one surety in like sum.

Oluwasanmi then adjourned the case until July 1 for hearing.
