Police arrest 2 for armed robbery in Ogun

Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers for allegedly robbing two brothers at gun point.

The Command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement on Tuesday disclosed that the suspects, Ayomide Joseph and Olajide Ajisomo were arrested on Wednesday, April 1 at Mowe in Obafemi-Owode Local government area of the State.

According to Oyeyemi, the duo were arrested following a report lodged at Mowe police station by one Adegoke Sodipe who reported that while he was coming from Lagos with his brother, they were attacked at Ikugbonmire junction Mowe by three armed robbery suspects.

He further explained that the suspects dispossessed them of their personal belongings including: Infinix mobile phone, valued at N25,000, UBA ATM CARD and So-safe corps identity card. 

He added that they raised alarm which attracted passerby and one of the hoodlums was apprehended by members of public.          

Upon the report, Oyeyemi said “the DPO Mowe Division, SP Marvis Jayeola quickly dispatched his detectives to the scene where the arrested member of the gang was handed over to the police.

“Having taken possession of the suspect, the operatives embarked on intelligent based investigation which led to the arrest of the second suspect. A locally made double barrel shot gun was recovered from them”, the Command’s spokesman added.

The Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered that the suspects be transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation.        

Ebrimson reiterated the readiness of the Command to clamp down on any would be criminal within the state as the command will not allow any hoodlum to subject the good people of the state to any form of mental and psychological torture during and after this trying period.
