Police arrest 3 suspected kidnappers in Oyo

The police command in Oyo state has arrested three suspects linked to the kidnapping of one Mrs Remi at Latayo farm settlement, Ile-Ido, thus securing the victim's freedom.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement in Ibadan on Thursday.

Olayinka said that credible intelligence gathered from the public led to Tuesday’s arrest of the suspected kidnappers and the victim’s release.

He said that the Commissioner of Police of Oyo State, Mr Abimbola Olugbenga, promptly directed a coordinated operation, following the information gathered on the suspects.

The PPRO said that the suspects, who were directly linked to the abduction, were arrested at the farm settlement at Ile-Ido, Oyo State.

According to him, the suspects provided further insight into their criminal operations after thorough interrogation.

The police spokesperson said efforts were ongoing to apprehend other accomplices and ensure that all perpetrators were brought to justice.

He commended the invaluable cooperation of the public, whose timely and credible information, he affirmed, led to the success of the operation.

The collaboration, he said, remains the backbone of effective policing and crime prevention.

“The Commissioner of Police encourages citizens to deepen their trust in the police and sustain this partnership through continuous intelligence sharing, mutual respect, and active engagement.

“Collective vigilance and cooperation remain key to building a safer and more secure society for all,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the victim was kidnapped on April 3 and regained freedom on Tuesday, after spending 18 days in captivity.
