Abiodun Alabi replaces Odumosu as Lagos police commissioner

The inspector general of police Alkali Usman Baba has appointed Abiodun Alabi to take over from Hakeem Odumosu as Lagos State commissioner.

A statement on Friday by the Force spokesman, Frank Mba, said Alabi is a fellow of the National Defence College and a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management.

An alumnus of the University of Lagos where he studied Sociology and a Master’s Degree holder from Obafemi Awolowo University, Alabi was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force in 1990 as a cadet officer.

He has served as the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Police Mobile Force, Force Headquarters, Abuja; DCP Admin Taraba and Bayelsa Commands respectively, and as DCP Operations, Ekiti State Command before his promotion to the rank of commissioner of police.

Until his recent redeployment, he was the CP in charge of Bauchi State Command.

Alabi’s deployment to Lagos was contained in a police wireless message dated January 20, 2022.

“The posting is with immediate effect,” the police signal read in part.
