Communal violence: Adeleke visits troubled communities, vows to fish out perpetrators

Osun State Governor, Sen. Ademola Adeleke has visited Ilobu, Ifon, and Erin Osun communities engulfed in the fatal communal clashes, pledging that he would ensure the security agencies fish out the perpetrators of violence.

This was communicated in a statement on Monday signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

During a visit to the affected areas, Governor Adeleke expressed deep concerns over the destruction and pledged decisive action to prevent further violence. 

He directed the Commissioner of Police and the Director of State Security Service to summon traditional rulers, chiefs, and key figures from the three towns for questioning and to sign a peace agreement.

The governor also instructed security agencies to track down and arrest those responsible for the violence, emphasising that all culprits must face swift prosecution.

“This is truly heartbreaking,” Governor Adeleke said. “I commend our security forces for restoring order. The 24-hour curfew is effective, but we must put a permanent stop to this senseless destruction of lives and properties.”

He assured residents that food and relief materials would be distributed through the traditional palaces to ensure accountability.

“We will hold those responsible accountable. Monarchs, chiefs, and community leaders will be made to sign peace agreements, and stringent measures will be put in place to prevent a recurrence,” he added.

The governor was accompanied by top security and government personnel.
