COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,024 new infections, as cases exceed 100,000

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 1,024 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 100,087.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Sunday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 613 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres while 8 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the country’s death toll from the virus to 1,358.

The 1,024 new cases are reported from 16 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicenter of the virus in Nigeria recorded 653 new cases followed by Plateau -63, Benue -48, Zamfara -45 and FCT -42.

Other states with new cases include Rivers -27, Ondo -26, Adamawa -26, Kaduna -22, Edo -18, Ogun -16, Imo -12, Kano -9, Yobe -6, Ekiti -5, Jigawa -4 and Osun -2.

Till date, 100,087 cases have been confirmed, 80,030 cases have been discharged and 1,358 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
