COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,041 new cases, total now 81,963

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 1,041 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 81,963.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Thursday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 377 coronavirus patients who have been successfully treated in some of the isolation centres were discharged after receiving their second negative result while 6 new deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,242.

The 1,041 new COVID-19 cases were reported from 22 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)  

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country recorded 316 new infections followed by FCT-210.

Other states with new cases include Kaduna-83, Plateau-70, Gombe-56, Oyo-56, Katsina-47, Nasarawa-35, Kano-33, Ogun-21, Rivers-17, Niger-14, Imo-14, Delta-12, Kwara-12, Edo-12, Benue-9, Anambra-8, Taraba-4, Ekiti-4 Ebonyi-6, Bayelsa-1, and Sokoto-1.

Till date, 81,963 cases have been confirmed, 69,651 cases have been discharged and 1,242 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
