COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,051 new cases, total now 221,071

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1,051new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 221,071.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Thursday.    

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 53 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result.

The 1,051 new cases are reported from 10 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country topped the day’s infections chart with 599 new cases followed by FCT -238, Rivers -79 and Oyo -51.

Other states with new cases include Ondo -32, Plateau -20, Akwa Ibom -11, Ogun -7, Bayelsa -5, Kano -5 and Kwara -4.

Till date, 221,071 cases have been confirmed 211,345 cases have been discharged and 2,983 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
