COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,074 new cases, total now 88,587

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1,074 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 88,587.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Friday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 660 coronavirus patients who have been successfully treated in some of the isolation centres were discharged after receiving their second negative result while 5 new deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,294.

The 1074 new cases are reported from 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country recorded 642 new infections followed by Kaduna -92, Rivers -78, FCT -66 and Gombe -66.

Other states with new cases include Kano -35, Ogun -31, Katsina -22, Plateau -20, Abia -7, Niger -4, Oyo -4, Akwa Ibom -3, Delta -2, and Osun -2.

Till date, 88,587 cases have been confirmed, 74,373 cases have been discharged and 1,294 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
