COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,356 new cases, total now 234,709

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1,356 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 234,709.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Friday.    

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 197 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 2 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,993.

The 1,356 new cases are reported from 11 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country topped the day’s infections chart with 822 new cases followed Rivers -119, Kwara -107 and FCT -103.

Other states with new cases include Edo -97, Kano -29, Imo -25, Delta -19, Plateau -14, Borno -10, Gombe -8 and Bauchi -3.

Till date, 234,709 cases have been confirmed 212,237 cases have been discharged and 2,993 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
