COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,424 new cases, total now 220,020

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1,424 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 220,020.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Wednesday.    

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 38 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result.

The 1,424 new cases are reported from 14 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country topped the day’s infections chart with 796 new cases followed Delta -152, FCT -130 and Edo -129.

Other states with new cases include Oyo -82, Ondo -39, Rivers -39, Kaduna -15, Enugu -9, Anambra -8, Kwara -7, Ogun -7, Bayelsa -4, Kano -4 and Akwa Ibom -3.

Till date, 220,020 cases have been confirmed 211,292 cases have been discharged and 2,983 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
