COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,584 new cases, total now 222,655
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 1,584 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 222,655.
The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Friday.
Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 28 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 1 new COVID-19 related death was recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,984
The 1,584 new cases are reported from 10 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country topped the day’s infections chart with 906 new cases followed by FCT -258 and Rivers -217.
Other states with new cases include Edo -85, Oyo -50, Ogun -16, Ondo -14, Bayelsa -12, Osun -10, Bauchi -9 and Kano -7.
Till date, 222,655 cases have been confirmed 211,373 cases have been discharged and 2,984 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
