COVID-19: Nigeria records 1,964 new cases, as total hit 116,655

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 1,964 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 116,655.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Thursday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 1,310 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 7 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,485.

The 1964 new cases are reported from 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicenter of the virus in the country recorded 824 new infections followed by FCT -246, Plateau -166 and Kaduna -128.

Other states with new cases include Ogun -76, Nasarawa -74, Anambra -69, Edo -50, Rivers -45, Ondo -44, Niger -40, Oyo -38, Adamawa -35, Kano -31, Akwa Ibom -27, Gombe -19, Kwara -13, Ekiti -12, Delta 6, Kebbi 6, Bauchi 5, Ebonyi 4, Osun 3, and Zamfara 1

Till date, 116,655 cases have been confirmed, 93,646 cases have been discharged and 1,485 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
