COVID-19: Nigeria records 159 new cases, total now 209,546

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 159 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 209,546.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Tuesday. 

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 234 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result with no new COVID-19 related death recorded.

The 159 new cases are reported from 11 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

FCT topped the day’s infections chart with 71 new cases followed Lagos-20, Imo-17 and Rivers-15.

Other states with new cases include Cross River-9, Kano-7, Ondo-7, Plateau-4, Ekiti-3, Niger-3, Delta-2 and Bauchi-1.

Till date, 209,546 cases have been confirmed 197,546 cases have been discharged and 2, 2,838 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
