COVID-19: Nigeria records 223 new cases, total now 63,731

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 223 new cases of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing total number of infections in the country to 63,731.

The NCDC made this known via its official twitter handle on Friday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 96 patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres across the nation while one (1) fatality was recorded increasing the nation’s death toll to 1,154.

The 223 new cases are reported from 16 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria leads the day infections chart with 85 new cases followed by FCT -35 and Akwa Ibom -24.

Other states with new cases includes Enugu -18, Plateau -13, Rivers -10, Abia -7, Ebonyi -6, Anambra -5, Adamawa -4, Bauchi -3, Imo -3, Ogun -3, Oyo -3, Kwara -2, Osun -1 and Taraba -1.

Till date, 63,731 cases have been confirmed, 59,844 cases have been discharged and 1,154 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
