COVID-19: Nigeria records 246 new cases, as total exceed 67,000

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 246 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total number of infections in the country to 67,220.

The NCDC made this known via its official website on Friday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 101 coronavirus patients who were successfully treated in some of the isolation centres were discharged after receiving their second negative result while 2 new fatalities were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll to 1,171.

The 246 new cases are reported from 9 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country recorded the day’s highest number of infections with 81 new cases followed by FCT -73, Plateau -39 and Kaduna -25.

Other states with new cases include Ogun -13, Bauchi -5, Rivers -4, Ekiti -2, Taraba -2 and Kano -2

Till date, 67,220 cases have been confirmed, 62,686 cases have been discharged and 1,171 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
