COVID-19: Nigeria records 298 new cases, as infection exceed 49,000

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday confirmed 298 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total number of infections in the country to 49,068.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) also shows that 207 patients were discharged on Sunday taking total number of discharged persons to 36,497 while 1 death was also recorded on the day.

The 298 new cases are reported from 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Plateau reported the highest number of new cases – 108, followed by Kaduna with 49 while Lagos – the nation’s epicentre of the disease, recorded 47.

Others are Ogun – 18, Osun – 17, FCT – 15, Ondo – 14, Edo – 8, Oyo – 6, Akwa Ibom – 4, Cross River – 4, Borno – 3, Ekiti – 2, while Bauchi, Kano, and Rivers reported 1 case each.

Till date, 49,068 cases have been confirmed, 36,497 cases have been discharged and 975 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
