COVID-19: Nigeria records 318 new cases, as total exceed 69,000

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 310 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total number of infections in the country to 69,255.

The NCDC made this known via its official website on Sunday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 124 coronavirus patients who were successfully treated in some of the isolation centres were discharged after receiving their second negative result increasing the total number of discharged patients in the country to 64,774.

The 318 new cases are reported from 13 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus recorded 104 new infections followed by Kaduna -59 and FCT -50.

Other states with new cases include Rivers -17, Ogun -16, Kano -14, Nasarawa -14, Akwa Ibom -10, Katsina -10, Edo -7, Oyo -5, Sokoto -5, Plateau -4 and Taraba -3.

Till date, 69,255 cases have been confirmed, 64,774 cases have been discharged and 1,180 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
