COVID-19: Nigeria records 344 new cases, total now 206,623

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 141 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 206, 623.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Tuesday. 

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 308 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result with 8 new COVID-19 related death increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,731.

The 344 new cases are reported from 18 states of the federation and the federal Capital Territory (FCT).

FCT topped the day’s infections chart with 79 new cases followed by Lagos -62, Rivers -45, Kaduna -33 and Plateau -22.

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country reported 36 new cases followed by Edo -11.

Other states with new cases include Edo -16, Benue -13, Kano -12, Cross River -11, Delta -11, Anambra -9, Abia -8, Jigawa -7, Bauchi -4, Ekiti -4, Kwara -4, Oyo -2, Akwa Ibom -1 and Nasarawa -1.

Till date, 206,623 cases have been confirmed, 194, 475 cases have been discharged and 2,731 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
