COVID-19: Nigeria records 464 new cases, total now 156,963

The Nigeria Centre for Disease (NCDC) has recorded 464 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 156,963.

The NCDC made this known via its official twitter handle on Wednesday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 1280 Coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 16 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,923.

The 464 new cases are reported from 21 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicenter of the virus in the Nigeria recorded 131 new infections followed by Kaduna -69, Akwa Ibom -33, Imo -31 and Katsina -30.

Other states with new cases include Kano -26, Ondo -23, Yobe -20, FCT -18, Ogun -13, Rivers -12, Kebbi -11, Ekiti -9, Osun -6, Oyo -6, Borno -5, Gombe -5, Plateau -5, Edo -4, Abia -3, Delta -3 and Zamfara -1.

Till date, 156,963 cases have been confirmed, 135,831 cases have been discharged and 1,939 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
