COVID-19: Nigeria records 477 new cases, total now 203,991

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 477 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 203,991.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Friday. 

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 197 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 3 new COVID-19 related death was recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,671.

The 477 new cases are reported from 17 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicenter of the virus in the country reported 113 new infections followed by Rivers -79, FCT -68 and Kaduna -68.  

Other states with new cases include Delta-37, Abia-36, Oyo-16, Benue-12, Akwa Ibom-9, Plateau-9, Cross River-7, Edo-6, Ekiti-6, Katsina-4, Jigawa-3, Bayelsa-2, Ogun-1 and Yobe-1.

Till date, 203,991 cases have been confirmed, 192,139 cases have been discharged and 2,671 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
