COVID-19: Nigeria records 48 new cases, total now 253,923

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 48 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 253,923.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Thursday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 72 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result.

The 48 new cases are reported from 8 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country reported 15 new infections followed by Cross River -12.

Other states with new cases include FCT -8, Plateau -7, Ogun -2, Abia -1, Delta -1, Oyo -1 and Rivers -1.

Till date, 253,923 have been confirmed 230,293 cases have been discharged and 3,139 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
