COVID-19: Nigeria records 53 new cases, total now 212,947
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 53 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 212,947.
The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Thursday.
Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 325 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 11 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,933.
The 53 new cases are reported from 8 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country topped the day’s infections chart with 19 new cases followed by FCT-7, Plateau-7 and Rivers-7.
Other states with new cases include Imo-5, Kano-4, Zamfara-2, Bayelsa-1 and Gombe-1.
Till date, 212,947 cases have been confirmed 205,000 cases have been discharged and 2,933 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
