COVID-19: Nigeria records 542 new cases, total now 152,616

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 542 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 152,616.

The NCDC made this known via its official twitter handle on Monday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 681 Coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 23 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,862.

The 542 new cases are reported from 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicenter of the pandemic in Nigeria recorded 99 infections followed by Kwara -91, Ebonyi -48, Ogun -44 and Kaduna -42.

Other states with new cases include Oyo -33, Ondo -25, FCT -24, Kebbi -23, Osun -20, Ekiti -17, Nasarawa -12, Imo -11, Delta -10, Gombe -9, Kano -8, Katsina -7, Rivers -7, Edo -5, Plateau -4 and Bauchi -3.

Till date, 152,616 cases have been confirmed, 129,300 cases have been discharged and 1,862 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
