COVID-19: Nigeria records 559 new cases, total now 197,046

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 559 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 197,046.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Wednesday. 

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 220 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 5 new COVID-19 related death were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,578.

The 559 new cases are reported from 14 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country reported 232 new infections followed by Rivers-83 and Enugu-66.

Other states with new cases include Oyo-28, Kaduna-25, FCT-24, Delta-22, Akwa Ibom-19, Kwara-18, Ekiti-13, Bayelsa-9, Cross River-9, Ogun-6, Kano-3 and Gombe-2.

Till date, 197,046 cases have been confirmed, 185,379 cases have been discharged and 2,578 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
