COVID-19: Nigeria records 582 new cases, total now 193,013

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 582 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 193,013.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Wednesday. 

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 241 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 11 new COVID-19 related death was recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,480.

The 582 new cases are reported from 15 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country reported 175 new cases followed by Rivers -124, Edo -60 and Delta -57.

Other states with new cases include Akwa Ibom-44, Anambra-25, Bayelsa-22, Gombe-19, Ekiti-12, FCT-12, Kaduna-11, Kano-6, Benue-5, Plateau-5, Ogun-3 and Jigawa-2.

Till date, 193,013 cases have been confirmed, 179,000 cases have been discharged and 2,480 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory
