COVID-19: Nigeria records 593 new cases, as infections exceed 50,000

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Wednesday announced 593 new cases of COVID-19, pushing number of infections in the country above 50,000.

The health agency (NCDC) disclosed this via its official twitter handle, 4 deaths were recorded in the country bringing total number of casualties at 985.

The 593 new cases are reported from 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Plateau recorded the highest number of infections of the day with 186 new cases followed by Lagos with 172 new infections and FCT with 62 cases.

Other states with new infections are: Oyo -27, Delta -25, Rivers -20, Ondo -19, Edo -18, Kaduna -17, Enugu -12, Akwa Ibom -10, Ogun -7, Abia -6, Gombe -6, Kano -3 and Osun -3

Till date, 50,488 cases have been confirmed, 37,304 cases have been discharged and 985 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
