COVID-19: Nigeria records 597 new cases, total now 196,487
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 597 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 196,487.
The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Tuesday.
Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 277 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 17 new COVID-19 related death were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,573.
The 597 new cases are reported from 13 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country reported 204 new infections followed by Rivers-89, Edo-65 and FCT-50.
Other states with new cases include Oyo-47, Enugu-46, Ekiti-24, Cross River-17, Delta-15, Gombe-15, Osun-12, Plateau-6, Benue-5 and Kano-2.
Till date, 196,487 cases have been confirmed, 185,159 cases have been discharged and 2,573 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
