COVID-19: Nigeria records 601 new cases, total now 200,957

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 601 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 200,957.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Thursday. 

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 429 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 7 new COVID-19 related death were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,647.

The 601 new cases are reported from 16 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country reported 173 new infections followed by , Edo-97, FCT-68 and Rivers-50.

Other states with new cases include Delta-45, Kaduna-28, Ondo-28, Akwa Ibom-25, Bayelsa-16, Imo-16, Plateau-15, Anambra-12, Ekit-11, Cross River-6, Oyo-6, Gombe-3 and Benue-2

Till date, 200,957 cases have been confirmed, 189,346 cases have been discharged and 2,647 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
