COVID-19: Nigeria records 655 new cases, total now 153,842

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 655 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 153,842.

The NCDC made this known via its official twitter handle on Wednesday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 875 Coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 11 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,885.

The 655 new cases are reported from 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country recorded 240 new infections followed by Ogun -88, Rivers -56, FCT -51 and Kaduna -43.

Other states with new cases include Kano -25, Plateau -21, Taraba -19, Edo -17, Abia -15, Delta -13, Nasarawa -11, Akwa Ibom -10, Kwara -10, Oyo -10, Kebbi -9, Borno -5, Bayelsa -4, Gombe -4, Ekiti -2, and Osun -2.

Till date, 153,842 cases have been confirmed, 130,818 cases have been discharged and 1,885 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
