COVID-19: Nigeria records 676 new cases, total now 131,918

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 676 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 131,918.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Monday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 1,286 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged after receiving their second negative result while 21 new COVID-19 related deaths were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,607.

The 676 new cases are reported from 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country recorded 227 new infections followed by Rivers -73, Niger -69, Plateau -56 and FCT 50.

Other states with new cases include Kano -44, Oyo -43, Ogun -27, Gombe -18, Ondo -15, Enugu -10, Osun -10, Cross River -8, Edo -8, Nasarawa -7, Bauchi -4, Kaduna -3, Ekiti -2, and Zamfara – 2.

Till date, 131,918 cases have been confirmed, 106,275 cases have been discharged and 1,607 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
