COVID-19: Nigeria records 727 new cases, total now 197,773

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 727 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 197,773.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Thursday. 

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 218 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result while 7 new COVID-19 related death were recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 2,585.

The 727 new cases are reported from 17 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Rivers topped the day’s infections chart with 257 new cases followed by Lagos 157, Edo -85 and Imo -63.

Other states with new cases include FCT-33, Delta-28, Kaduna-27, Benue-17, Akwa Ibom-13, Ekiti-13, Taraba-12, Bayelsa-5, Kano-4, Ogun-4, Oyo-3, Abia-2, Nasarawa-2 and Plateau-2.

Till date, 197,773 cases have been confirmed, 185,597 cases have been discharged and 2,585 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
