COVID-19: Nigeria records 730 new cases, total now 218,596

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 730 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 218,596.

The NCDC disclosed this via its verified microsite on Tuesday.    

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 1,178 coronavirus patients were successfully treated and discharged from the various treatment centres after receiving their second negative result.

The 730 new cases are reported from 13 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country topped the day’s infections chart with 431 new cases followed by FCT -174, Rivers -38 and Ogun -32.

Other states with new cases include Akwa Ibom -25, Anambra -11, Katsina -7, Bayelsa -4, Niger -4, Kano -3 and Ekiti -1.

Till date, 218,596 cases have been confirmed 211,254 cases have been discharged and 2,983 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
