COVID-19: Nigeria records 749 new cases, total now 85,560

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 749 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 85,560.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Tuesday.

Data from the health agency (NCDC) reveals that 580 coronavirus patients who have been successfully treated in some of the isolation centres were discharged after receiving their second negative result while 3 new deaths was recorded increasing the nation’s death toll from the virus to 1,267.

The 749 new cases are reported from 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Lagos the epicentre of the virus in the country recorded 299 new cases followed by Plateau -131, Kaduna -83 and FCT -74.

Other states with new infections include Kwara -35, Sokoto -26, Edo -18, Kano -17, Katsina -16, Delta -11, Nasarawa -10, Ondo -9, Bauchi -9, Rivers -5, Akwa Ibom -3, Jigawa -1, Osun -1 and Ekiti -1.

Till date, 85,560 cases have been confirmed, 71,937 cases have been discharged and 1,267 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
