Ekiti govt to partner UN-HABITAT on Ado Ekiti smart city project

Ekiti State Government has revealed plans to partner with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) to facilitate the seamless realisation of the Ado Ekiti Smart City Project.

This project aims to transform the urban landscape in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The collaboration will involve dialogue, knowledge sharing, and cooperation among experts, policymakers, and stakeholders, drawing upon UN-HABITAT's expertise and experience in urban development.

The insights gained from the scoping mission will contribute to the formulation of comprehensive strategies to address various challenges related to urbanisation, including housing, infrastructure, environment, sustainability, and social inclusion.

Local communities will also be engaged, listened to, and their experiences will be used to create people-centred strategies that meet their unique needs and aspirations.

The Government of Ekiti State, under the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, remains a model sub-national government with a commitment to sustainable urbanisation, access to basic services, and the creation of resilient cities for residents.
