FCE Abeokuta gets new Bursar, Librarian

The Governing Council of Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta has approved the appointment of a new Registrar and College Librarian.

Mr. Muyideen Olawale Bakare was appointed as Bursar while Dr. (Mrs.) Catherine Enobong Olaotan is the new College Librarian.

This was contained in statement issued by the Acting Director of Corporate Communications and Protocol of the college, Mr. Anthony Ogundipe, on Monday.

According to the statement, the appointment was conveyed via a letter dated May 22, 2023 and signed by the college Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. Adedayo Adebayo, and it is for a period of five years, in the first instance with effect from 1st August, 2023.

The statement read in part, “Bakare, until his appointment as the Bursar of FCE Abk, was a Deputy Bursar at the College Bursary.

“Bakare, 51, bagged his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1998 from the Ogun state University (Now Olabisi Onabanjo University), Ago-Iwoye, and Master’s degree in the same field from Lagos state University, Ojo, in 2018.

“He is a Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) 2020, an Associate, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) 2011 and Associate member, Nigerian Institute of Management 2003.

Bakare who hails from Odeda is married with children. The bursar-designate will succeed Mr. Adenrele Olatunji Alabi whose tenure comes to an end on July 31, 2023

Until her appointment, Dr. Mrs. Olaotan, was about completing her first term of office as the College Librarian at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka.

“She started her professional career in librarianship with the Ogun State Library Board, Simeon Adebo Library, Abeokuta in 1991 and rose to the position of Deputy Director, Library Services. From 1995, she worked as head of Ogun State Library Services and also served as the Secretary to the Board until 2006. She thereafter transferred her services to FCE Abeokuta as principal librarian and rose to the rank of chief librarian in 2016.

Born in 1968 in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, she attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science in 1990 and Master’s Degree in the same field in 2004. She then proceeded to the University of Ibadan for her Masters of Philosophy, School Librarianship Degree in 2016.

She obtained her doctoral degree at the same University, Centre for Educational Media Resources Studies (CEMRS).

The College Librarian-designate will succeed Dr. Godwin Olusegun Oyewole whose tenure comes to an end on July 31, 2023.
