FCE Abeokuta granted approval to commence undergraduate programmes September

The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education has granted Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, approval to run undergraduate degree programmes as one of the pioneer Federal Colleges of Education to begin the dual mandate programme come September, 2025.

This was disclosed by the Provost, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele, at the 1st International Conference of the Department of Islamic Studies, Centre for Undergraduate Programmes, Federal College of Education Abeokuta in affiliation with the University of Ibadan.

Some of the already cleared programmes are Education/Biology, Education/Chemistry, Education/Christian Religious Studies, Education/English, Education French, Human Kinetics, Health Education, Education/Mathematics, Education/Physics and Education Islamic Studies.

In his address, the Grand Chief Imam of Egbaland, Shaykh Sa'addallah Alade Bamgbola, expressed excitement that his long-held wish for the School to become a University was becoming a reality. He appreciated the Provost's tireless efforts and prayed for God's continued blessings.

The Keynote Speaker, Prof. Akeem Adebayo Adisa Akanni, emphasised the importance of innovation and digital collaboration in enhancing learning experiences. He noted that these approaches can change the perspective that humanities contribute little to development. The lead paper presenter, Dr Tesleem Taiye Bello highlighted the significance of collaborative technology in reshaping academic work and promoting lifelong learning.

The Head of Department, Islamic Studies, Dr Bimpe Jimoh in his opening address stressed the importance of digital tools in improved religious and general education.

The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Dr F. B Adesope, in her vote of thanks appreciated God for making the programme a reality and thanked the Management staff, especially the Provost, for creating an enabling environment.
