FCE-ABK alumni give back to alma matter 20 years after graduation

The class of 2005 of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, gathered to celebrate their 20th graduation anniversary by giving back to their alma matter.

The event which held at the Alumni garden of the institution on Friday, saw the ground breaking and construction of a block of toilet facility around the alumni garden.

The alumni, who graduated in 2005 ably represented by over 150 members cuts across all the various departments and schools danced around the campus in celebration of their 20th anniversary.

Speaking at the occasion, President of the 2005 Class of the association, Oladimeji Oluwafemi Ojo, said, “We owe so much to this great institution. This is our way of ensuring that future generations have the same opportunities we had.” 

"We've been having our reunion for about 7 years now in which we come around and celebrate ourselves but this one we are doing today is a landmark one although we have donated dustbin and some other things like that in the past to boost the aesthetics nature of the college.

"We even intend to provide a sizeable number of street lights but in our meeting with the College provost, in person of Dr. R. A Soyele, who suggested that we can provide toilet facility for the benefit of everyone using the alumni garden. After this we are also looking at other ways we can contribute to the growth and betterment of the College

Infrastructural development

FCE-ABK has grown by over 400% compared to what we left in 2005 when our set graduated, we can see constructions works currently ongoing in the College which attest to the preparedness of the College towards becoming a full fledged degree awarding institution. I can boldly say that the school I had my degree program in Plateau State doesn't have this level of infrastructure.

"I will like to appreciate the Federal Government for considering FCE-Abk as one of the pilot institutions where the dual mandate program will be kick started.

"I appreciate the current Provost for the work he is doing at ensuring that this College kick starts a full fledged degree program later this year." 

"Mr. Oluwafemi Ojo, also admonished the current and incoming students never to give up on their dream and see this academic environment as a place to build their desired future"

In his address, Chairman of the planning committee, Oyedokun Micheal said the purpose of coming together is to appreciate God over the lives of every member of the 2005 set and to contribute our own quota to the development of our alma matter. 

The provost, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele, praised the alumni for their commitment to giving back to the institution stating that the College under his watch will continually witness progress and development in all ramification. 

The event was attended by the College Provost, Dr. R. A Soyele, college officials, current Student Union president and members of the Kegites Club who added glamour to the event.
