Hijrah 1442: Osun declares Thursday public holiday

The Osun State Government has declared Thursday, August 20, 2020 as public holiday to commemorate the Islamic New Year, Hijra 1442 AH.

Funke Egbemode, the state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation announced this on Wednesday.

Egbemode said “the state government wishes to emphasize that the holiday is no approval for large gatherings or unauthorized meetings under any guise.

Residents are enjoined to observe the safety guidelines against COVID-19 as outlined by the government and the NCDC.”

She enjoined Muslims in the state to use the occasion to pray for the progress, economic prosperity, stability, peace and continuation of good governance in the state.

All workers in the State are expected to resume work on Friday, August 21, 2020.
