I’ve released all Local Government money - Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji on Thursday said his administration has released all the funds accruable to the 16 local government councils from the Federation Account since taking office about seven months ago.

During a meeting with the State Auditor-General for Local Government, Dr (Mrs) Iyadunni Oke, the Governor commended auditors for their quality service and accountability. He emphasised the importance of senior civil servants mentoring younger ones to ensure continuity of quality service delivery in all sectors when they eventually retire.

The Governor also stressed the significance of accountability and the critical role of auditors in ensuring the efficient management of the state’s resources and exposing shady deals.

In response, Dr Iyadunni Oke promised to carry out her responsibility as the State Auditor-General for Local Government to improve the state's accounts and ensure the continued commitment of all members of her office.

She emphasised the importance of effective auditing in all government undertakings, occasional investigation into government's special programs, and training and retraining of all auditors in the state to ensure the success of all government policies.
