Ogun 2027: Yayi picks APC governorship nomination forms
The lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial district, Sen. Solomon Adeola (Yayi) has formally obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship nomination and expression of interest forms.
The forms were picked up on the senator’s behalf by his Chief of Staff, Kayode Odunaro, at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.
A statement from the Yayi Campaign Organisation confirmed that the forms were purchased by a group of supporters and stakeholders to enable the Ogun West lawmaker to complete the official nomination process.
Kayode Odunaro described the collection of the documents as “a decisive step in translating the overwhelming mandate of the party’s consensus decision into an electoral reality.”
Adeola, a chartered accountant was adopted as the APC’s sole governorship flagbearer at a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting in Abeokuta on April 13. The move saw other aspirants step down, including Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, who subsequently suspended her campaign and threw her weight behind the consensus arrangement.
With the nomination forms now secured, Senator Adeola is expected to submit the completed documents ahead of the party’s screening exercise, officially setting the stage for the 2027 contest.
