Ogun LG poll: OGSIEC to engage 15,000 adhoc staff - Osibodu

The Chairman, Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) Babatunde Osibodu, has said the commission will engage over 15,000 ad hoc staff for the forthcoming local government elections scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Osibodu disclosed this in a statement on Monday made available to journalists by the commission’s Press Officer, Damilola Akindele.

The chairman was quoted to have said that the temporary personnel to be recruited “have crucial roles at ensuring voters are verified on time, ballot boxes well positioned and distributed, as well as ensure result collation after the voting exercise.”

Osibodu said, “Arrangements are in top gear for the recruitment exercise. There are over 5,000 polling units across the 20 local government areas of the state, with at least, three staff deployed to each polling unit.”

The chairman, while maintaining that the recruitment process would be transparent and merit-based, emphasised that “applicants must meet specific criteria for each job role.”

He underscored OGSIEC’s commitment to the success of the LG elections in the state, assuring that the ad-hoc staff would be trained on their job functions, to ensure a smooth electoral process.
