Ogun, Ondo approves "Operation Amotekun" bill

Ogun State government has approved a Draft Bill seeking to establish the Western Nigeria Security Network code-named Operation Amotekun.

The approval was granted during the State Executive Council meeting held at the Governors’ office Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.

The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Adegbolahan Adeniran according to the state Governors’ Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin,  presented the draft bill approved by the Attorney Generals of the South West states to the meeting

Adeniran said the approved Draft Bill by the counsels seek to amend the bill for the establishment of Ogun State Security Network Agency.

Adegbolahan promised that the bill will be forwarded to the Ogun State House of Assembly this week for consideration and approval before Governor Dapo Abiodun signs it into law.

The proposed agency will incorporate the Amotekun Corps

In a related development, the Ondo State Executive Council has also approved a Draft Bill of the Ondo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps code named “Operation Amotekun”.

The Bill will be transmitted to the House of Assembly for legislative scrutiny after which it would be passed into law.

In an exhaustive session of deliberations, Council took time to peruse every detail contained in the Bill presented by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Kola Olawoye, SAN.

It was then prepared ready for transmission to the House of Assembly for passage.

The Draft Bill has 6 Parts and 44 sections.
